I can't believe it's been 6 years since the September 11th attacks. I think this is the first anniversary that I woke up and didn't realize what day it was. I turned on MSNBC and they are playing the coverage from that day. Most of which I've never seen before.

I can remember everything from that day. I was at my apartment in Westwood and woke up before my alarm went off thinking what a beautiful day it was. It had been a gloomy summer in Westwood, but that morning it was sunny and beautiful and I was actually excited for my walk to work. I jumped in the shower and as soon as I turned the shower off my roommate came in and told me that something horrible had happened. I immediately called my mom who I found out later had been calling my cell phone all morning, but it was turned off. She told me to get out of LA now so I packed a few things and ran to my car with my hair soaking wet. I think about it now and I kind of laugh about it, but at the time no one knew what else was going to happen. It was such a scary day.

I don't really have anything profound to say. I love New York. It's my favorite city. I hope something like this never happens again. In New York or anywhere.

Here are a few pictures from Ground Zero and the city from my trip to New York in May of 2006.
