WPJA!

I'm very excited because I just found out I was accepted into the WPJA! The WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) is different than most photography organizations because you actually have to get accepted. You don't just pay your dues and you're in. They go over your website and all your pictures and make sure you meet their requirements. Most of my favorite photographers are a part of the WPJA so it's pretty exciting to now be a member! Yeah!

Dr. Susie & Dr. Cory

Susie and Cory came all the way from Boston for me to shoot their engagement session. Okay, not really. But, that sounds cool :) Actually, Susie and Cory came to visit Cory's parents who live in Orange County. I've shot family sessions for his brother and step brothers families so they asked me to do their engagement pictures at the beach. Susie and Cory are both doctors. Susie is a pulmonary specialist and Cory is an ear, nose, and throat doctor. Besides being super smart they are both really nice people. During the shoot Cory kept asking Susie if she was having fun, which was really sweet. It is obvious that they care a lot about each and are very much in love.

Susie and Cory are getting married in Boston on either August 17th or August 18th (they couldn't remember, but I'm pretty sure it's the 18th!). Good luck with the rest of the planning! Here's your slideshow!

Making his blog debut...

I have about a million other things I should be doing right now, but it looked like a nice day outside (it's actually cold and windy) so I took my dog, Hauggy, out for an impromptu photo shoot. For those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Hauggy you know he is much more than a dog. He is a little man. He speaks English. He can learn new tricks in less than 5 minutes. He knows all of his toys by name. You look in his eyes and he's human. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but when they meet him they understand. He's a demanding and emotional little guy, but I'm so lucky to have him in my life. Isn't he handsome?

Christie & Ethan

On Sunday I met up with Christie and Ethan in Laguna. It seemed like we were going to get great weather, but as I got closer to the beach I noticed a layer of clouds hanging right over Laguna. It was about 20 degrees colder and windy! But Christie and Ethan were great sports and we still had a lot of fun. Christie and Ethan are getting married in April in Temecula. I have so many couples getting married out there, but Christie and Ethan's will be my first. I'm very excited! Here's the slideshow!

Jamie-Dee & Ryan

On Saturday night I shot Jamie-Dee and Ryan's engagement party in Tustin. Jamie-Dee and Ryan are getting married in a castle in Arizona in September. It sounds like it's going to be a beautiful wedding! It was great getting to meet them and all of their family and friends. Thanks for letting me be a part of your celebration! Here's the slideshow!

Wicked Awesome!

I LOVE musicals. Absolutely love them. RENT is by far my favorite musical. I've seen it 18 times. I know, I'm weird. I was so excited to hear that Wicked was coming to LA. I've been waiting to see it for a couple of years and didn't get to see it when I went to NYC because I had to see RENT (I HAD to see it on Broadway!).

Chuck's parents took us to see Wicked last night. It was really, really, really good and I highly recommend going to see it while it's in LA. The story is so smart and fun. It's an awesome twist on the Wizard of Oz. What made it more great is that the Wicked Witch, Elphaba, was played by Eden Espinosa who went to the same high school as me. She graduated two years before me and was the original understudy to Idina Menzel (the original Maureen in RENT) on Broadway. I couldn't really see what she looked like under all the green make-up and I recognized her name, but could not remember what she looked like so Chuck and I went to the stage door after the show to talk to her. Chuck is actually her family's optometrist! She was very sweet and is so talented. It's really cool to see someone from your hometown be so successful. So go see Eden and Wicked while it's here!

Guest Books

I'm really excited about these photo guest books I started offering. They are 8 x 8 flush mount style albums that your guests sign right on top of. Much better than boring, plain guest books! I have both 10 and 20 page books and they come in a variety of different leathers. Here's one that I designed from Brigid and Dave's engagement session last Sunday.

Happy Valentine's Day

I wanted to say Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends and family and especially to my wonderful husband Chuck. He's been so supportive of my business and it would not exist without him. He's the one who rubs my neck at 1 in the morning when I'm trying to finish editing a wedding. He gets my hot chocolate so I don't fall asleep. He calms me down when my CD burner stops working or my computer is going too slow. He cleans the house for me when I'm getting ready for a client meeting. He rubs my feet when I get home from shooting a 10 hour wedding. He listens to me when I'm frustrated and he celebrates with me when everything goes right. He pushes me to challenge myself and be a better person and photographer. I would not be who I am today if it wasn't for him. Chuck, I love you and thank you for everything you do for me. 143.

Here are some pictures from our wedding day taken by Steve Hoffman.

Brigid & Dave

Brigid and Dave have to be one of the funniest couples I've ever worked with. They were cracking me up the whole entire shoot! And on top of being funny, they are gorgeous! They were totally up for anything and did anything I asked (even running through the water and getting soaking wet for our 15 minute walk up the hill!).

We did Brigid and Dave's engagement shoot at Crystal Cove beach in Newport. Last summer a bunch of old beach cottages were renovated and reopened at Crystal Cove. There are lot of bright walls (which I love!). And there's a cute little restaurant, which is actually where Dave asked Brigid's dad for her hand in marriage. How cute!

I'm totally excited to shoot Brigid and Dave's wedding this September! It's going to be a lot of fun! And thanks to my friend Joey for the referral! Here's the slideshow!

Nicole and Mike's Engagement Party

On Saturday night I took some portraits for Nicole and Mike before their engagement party started. You may remember Nicole and Mike from their family portraits we did back in December. Nicole and Mike are getting married next November so it was fun to hang out with the bridal party before the big day. Here are some of the pictures!

Now I Know What It Feels Like...

I hate being on the other side of the camera. That's why I am a photographer! But, I had the opportunity for two of my favorite photographers to take my bio picture and I think it's good to remember how my clients feel and what a photographer can do to make their clients feel more comfortable. I was very lucky to have the uber talented Liana Lehman shoot my bio pics today in Cabo. I absolutely love them and it was nice to remember what it feels like to be on the other side of the lens!

And here's one by the awesomeJessica Claire.
